Driving change through education and celebration
Event organisers use Better Stands to measure the reusability of stands at their events.
By assessing stands before or during an event, organisers can learn where to focus their efforts, celebrating exhibitors and contractors who are already reusable and engaging with those who have not yet started that journey.

Case study
Hear from Ellen Osborne, ESG Manager at Clarion Events about how they scaled up Better Stands.
The flexibility of the Better Stands programme allowed Clarion to “dip a toe” and test it, before going “full in” with awarding certificates. Piloting the programme at 2 shows in 2024 without issuing certificates gave our show teams, and senior leadership, the confidence it worked and would be a key part of delivering safer and less wasteful shows.
Since expanding the programme to 10 shows across 3 regions in 2025, it’s clear our approach to drive change differs show to show: some are establishing a baseline with a sample, others are focused on addressing pavilions first, and others are baking Better Stands ratings into broader sustainability awards with indicative ratings.
Going into 2026, more Clarion shows are coming onboard as thay see it as a great new offering to exhibitors. The progamme has grown from strenght to strenght, and we love to see exhibitors rewardes for good practices.
